To Create a Compound Feature Type

Moving an independent feature type to another independent feature type creates a compound feature type. This action turns the selected feature type into a child feature type and removes it from the top level of the Feature Type Tree. The destination feature type becomes a parent feature type. This action can also be used to add feature types to existing parent feature types.

A feature type can be moved in two ways:

  • with a standard (left-click) drag-and-drop operation
  • with a right-click drag-and-drop operation, which displays a shortcut menu with the Move command.
In the Feature Type Tree pane, select the feature type that you want to move, drag it to the parent feature type, and confirm the operation by clicking Yes on the message box. Or right-click the feature type, drag it to the parent feature type, and choose Move from the shortcut menu.
